I would quite like to start cooking but I seem to have run out of working space… Chicken, Chorizo, Chickpea and Cat Stew, anybody? In Other News: last night’s Iberian Magpies were splendid but tonight’s bird takes the biscuit. There was a peacock strutting on the far side of the hedge earlier. #sorrynophoto #wp #gastrovanners #gastrovanner #cats #travellingcat #Dusty

Landed in La Carlota just before the heavens opened, but the rain caught us on the way out of Mercadona – which was not the time to find that our trolley had locking wheels. The van having been too big to park in the car park, we were tucked in to a space across the road. Soaked to the skin after that and then going in to Reception on arrival here, we are now contemplating the rain pouring down the windscreen whilst we drink coffee and eat Stroopwafel (it’s that kind of day). Of course the restaurant here is closed today. I think somebody leaks our plans and warns these places that we are coming. So, it is a homemade Chorizo and Chickpea stew tonight. The Valdepeñas that we bought in Mercadona is out, in a vain attempt to warm it up. We passed by the Pata Negra winery in Valdepeñas on our way here today, so keeping things local 🙂 The wine BTW cost a princely 2€65. We had some last year and found it to be amazing VFM. Oh, and we finally bought a tit 😉 Dusty travelled very well today. Not a word of complaint. #wp #spain #weather #gastrovanners #gastrovanner #food

Visibility improved, rain worsened. Danger of Lynx on road for next 23km. Safe to say that today’s journey proving less enjoyable than yesterday. Same motorway but different road surface and very different weather. We are going this way to avoid the worst rain… #wp #livereportingfromtheroad #spain

Tonight’s view from the van is of olive groves and cloud. We have decided to spend only one night here and will move on to Olvera tomorrow. Dusty came for a walk with us this afternoon, there is a track that runs straight from the campsite into the National Park. Very nice and he walked well, until the rain started and he asked to go back into his carrier! #wp #spain #cats #Dusty

The weather is looking not so good over here and it isn’t the only dodgy thing around. A while back, I commented to Mr Snail that we hadn’t seen any seedy roadside clubs yet. I must have invoked them because we just passed three in quick succession.. in just about a kilometre in fact. #wp #spain #livereportingfromtheroad
