Not exactly out on a limb

It may have been one of the best decisions that we ever made, the one to move only as far as Glenarm from our previous stop at Drains Bay.

We parked on the rough car park adjacent to the harbour, looking out across the river mouth to the hills.

The view from the van

Glenarm is a peaceful place and although there was some traffic noise, it seemed to be less than the sound of the birds singing.

The sun was shining and we were feeling very relaxed. An exploration of the village and a little shopping in the village shop was followed by a lengthy walk in the forest. Nell approved.

The older part of the village is interesting and handsome, rather than pretty. A street of Georgian properties, vari-coloured, leads up to the entrance to the forest. The forest itself is very lovely, lush and green and with resident Red Squirrels. There is a Sculpture Trail. I was surprised to see both Arums and Lily of the Valley well grown already. Honeysuckle leaves were unfurling.

We spent a quiet(ish) night, retiring early at 8:30 pm and disturbed by one boy racer. Luckily he was soon gone.

A low-power signal on 2G meant that Internet access was not really possible in Glenarm but we did not mind.

I took many photographs that I am unable to share at this time due to a very sulky Internet connection as I write this. I will add some more when we have a better connection
