For those who have been unable to keep up at the back (my fault, not yours):

  • We sold our house in Maison Celle
  • Then bought a static caravan in the Vendee. Currently referred to either as The Shack, or Base
  • Between the van and The Shack, we now considered ourselves to be Full-timing.
  • After barely settling in at the The Shack, we set off for over-wintering in Iberia on October 25th, 2023, planning to return in the Spring of ’24
  • Spring was however very wet, our pitch was reported as very muddy, and we never made it back to base.
  • We meandered instead, over to more Eastern and Northern parts, but with a fixed point in time and space on Day 368 and approaching 7,000 Kilometres, in Antwerp. We spent a week there, seeing both Bob Dylan and Nick Cave in concert, and having a slap up 2* meal for our 25 years together celebrations.
  • On leaving Antwerp I decided to split Polarsteps recording into two sections as the picture was becoming very messy. We meandered down to Iberia for the second winter of this trip.
  • Now on Day 565, and in Sagres (for the fourth time on this trip.)

Full stats will be calculated when we return to Base.

When will that be? Sometime in June, by the looks of things. We are currently tied up in the Algarve due to ongoing dental work, with an appointment on the 23rd of this month. We hope to move swiftly back to France.

Nessa needs her CT doing by mid-June, and I want to spend some time at Base, making The Shack feel a little more homely. Lots of work to do before disappearing for another winter.

Winter 25/26 was going to be Greece. Unfortunately, Greece has new laws and motorhoming there is not gong to be as easy as it been. Also, further dentistry beckons and we shall need to return to Portugal in the Autumn. So, who knows what we shall do next!
