This morning we left Tordesillas in bright sunshine, heading towards Burgos, in the knowledge that today’s high temperature was set to be 5 or 6 degrees lower at our destination. What a treat. It was soon a cloudy and muggy day.
On arrival at Fuentes Blancas, we were slightly overwhelmed by how busy the site is. But that wasn’t even lunchtime (by Spanish standards) and the site has continued to fill throughout the afternoon. The forecast high was in fact exceeded, and by a couple of degrees. A threatened thunderstorm hasn’t appeared, but the temperature is now dropping rapidly and the air is freshening. I am returning to life. Breathing is much easier. I feel far happier.
There was a considerable stir this afternoon, when a tree shed a large branch… which then took out another branch on its way down. It has damaged an Eriba poptop caravan, the front window outer pane has smashed. Although the branch was entangled with the towing gear, it doesn’t seem to have damaged that… because the caravan has just now been towed past us. We note though, that the poptop apparently won’t now go down. Luckily, the owners were out in their car when it happened, so no injuries and they still have an intact car. It could have been dreadful. It wasn’t, but I bet it has really spoiled their holiday. What a shock to come back to!
Believe it or not, tomorrow’s forecast is for a mere 17 degrees. I may have the energy to cook. Hooray!
Beginning now to realise that France is very close. Only one more stop to go. I am excited at the prospect of food choice and good shopping, not to mention an endless variety of easy stops.
It’s going to be weird, if we have to go through border control on our way home, if indeed we do. Is it just theoretical at this time or are they really pulling people up? Will be waved through on our French plates? Watch this space.
