This morning was all soup-making and fridge defrosting. This afternoon consisted mainly of battling with laptop, WordPress, Adobe, Creative Cloud, et al. It was a real struggle.

I looked up the “Benefits” associated with the CC account, and it included free stock images. I went off to get a blog header. It wasn’t easy. First of all, everything went French on me. Then it turned out that they wanted a credit card number… but it’s free? Oh, no it isn’t. A tiny few images are free, and eventually I got Adobe to show them to me.

I obtained the single image available to me (there were 64 pages of images matching my search criteria initially!) and fiddled about with it in Lightroom to make it feel more like mine. I carefully followed the Theme instructions, sizing my header to 1600 px by 600 px.

I don’t know what you, dear reader, are seeing but on my screen… the blog header doesn’t fit properly, at all.

Generally the Theme seems very flaky, in terms of both documentation and performance. Performance issues might be due to my aging laptop, or to our currently poor Internet connection but, overall, I think that I should find a better Theme package SOON.

On the positive side, I do believe that things are beginning to look a little less messy around here.

Another annoyance: I turned on the WordPress AI writing assistance and it considers “associated with” and “currently” to be complex words. I do take its point that some of my sentences are overlong, but I do not plan on writing for six year olds and shall be turning that thing off asap.
