We have music

Mr Snail’s phone made noises in the early hours of this morning. Bleary-eyed investigations revealed that the smart charger, due to be delivered on Monday, was arriving before 10am today. We had not paid for Saturday delivery but we were not about to argue, considering our current battery status.

Worst fears were not realised – the battery did charge. Once that was up and running, we started the engine and ran it until the leisure batteries were fully charged (for the first time since leaving Twigworth.)

Whilst all that was going on I began to action my withdrawal from my OU course  and contacted my tutor, student support and the funding agency,

Mr Snail topped up our water once the batteries were sorted. Emptying the waste was deferred until tomorrow. I cooked some pasta and prawns and he turned his attention to plotting an away-from-it-all break.

It is not easy, trying to arrange a holiday at this time of year. Those places that are not shut for the season are pretty well booked up but we hope to hide away in forests and at Britstops etcetera until all the festive nonsense is over and done with. Vincent does not have the range that Hank did so planning has to include the need to fill and empty tanks and do some food shopping every few days.

So… we need to find pubs to stay at, and camp sites to book, but avoid any actual recognised holidays at such points… but we need to be in civilisation when the shops are not closed for the holidays. It is all a bit of a balancing act. Several likely Britstops turned out to be closed for the duration.

We wish to do something nice for Mr Snail’s birthday (17th) and have a good dinner for our wedding anniversary (31st) but not be amongst the silly hats, streamers and boozed-up revellers. A restaurant has been identified and we think that we shall pick an arbitrary non-holiday date, fuse the two events and call it a joint celebration. If it comes off, there will be an eight course tasting menu, wine flight and room with  hot tub. We have left it so late as to believe the act impossible to pull off but if radio silence ensues you may assume that we’re off on the road again.

We would love to hear from you, please leave a reply
