Moving North with the Sun

Tomorrow we are leaving Sagres. It is difficult to believe that we have been here for a month. I would happily stay for another. However, we turn towards home now and it seems like an appropriate point in time to summarise the trip so far.

Going Home

We are in no hurry and we don’t particularly want to be home before the Spring arrives. Having passed the Solstice and knowing that the sun is returning Northward we are happy enough to keep pace, more or less.

Our initial destination is Zambujeira do Mar. We are visiting purely in the spirit of adventure and discovery. Can’t keep returning to the same old places all the time.

Photos

There are photos. Yes, of course there are photos. Unfortunately a recent upgrade to WordPress seems to have broken the photo upload process so we shall have to wait for the images. My apologies for this interruption to normal service.

Back again. The day does not demand soup, it’s warm and sunny, but we had the soup again anyway as it is so very good. Today I had clams again, this time with spaghetti and garlic. Lots of garlic. Lots and lots of garlic. I am a happy woman. #wp #portugal #sagres #food #lunch #clams #pasta #pogged

Lunch was very good. Vegetable soup for two, pork and clams for me (note the whole cloves of garlic!), Bacalhau con Natas for him, figgy tart finished me off and he had the flan. All very good and excellent coffee. If we were not leaving soon, I am sure we would come back here. #wp #portugal #sagres #lunch

Space constraints require pre-cooking of the Salardaise potatoes. I will cook them through and brown them now, then add the garlic when I reheat, after the duck is crisped in the air fryer. We only have 5 amps so it’s one task at a time as the frying pan won’t fit on the gas cooker! #wp #gastrovanner #gastrovanners #birthdaydinner

Getting worse. Radar says rain for next 93 minutes, which is going to make the wine run to Reception a little tricky. It’s all very well but we didn’t pack for this. Nothing in our experience of our last two visits prepared us for this possibility. #wp #portugal #sagres #weather #rain
