Having said that we do not care to plan, the 2 hours that we had spent in planning, and creating a spreadsheet, were fully wasted. Should have known!
The route that we had plotted to France was taking us to Arreau, and thence to Marciac – where we intended to get the van’s CT done. It was a good route and it utilised several very nice free Areas. Alas, the weather has taken a hand in it. The present heatwave has dissuaded us from parking up on unshaded sites on tarmac, where camping behaviours are not permitted… we would be expiring in the heat, unable to sit outside or to put the awning out.
We have re-planned… to use campsites. Shading trees, grassy pitches, cooling showers… the route that we are now taking is via some old favourites. We now plan to be in Dax on the 4th of June, and the CT is booked there for the 5th.
Don’t make me plan it again!
Having done going on for 350 Km on Sunday, and 211 Km yesterday, we have arrived at Canaveral a little the worse for wear. We had hoped to slow down a little now, but the weather is driving us north at a pace. We have over 250Km to do tomorrow, but we will then stay at Tordesillas for three nights to do some R&R. Mr Snail is putting in an heroic effort.

Shopped at the SPAR in Monesterio this morning and bought the makings of a meal (Lomo and Pisto) but find tonight that appetites have disappeared. 33 degrees. I am not cooking. We nibbled on some cheese, and I drank a very cold Not Beer (Mahou 0% Tostada.) There may have been a few Torreznillos involved, but I could not possibly comment…
It was fun to be shopping in Spain again.
